Apple TV needs a game controller. The Siri Remote can browse the menus, but it can't fly the ship. Use any game controller that works with Apple TV, such as an Xbox, PlayStation or MFi controller. Pair it in Settings, then Remotes and Devices, then Bluetooth.

What is Netrek?

Netrek is a team space game that first appeared in 1989. Two teams fly small ships, capture planets and try to take over the map. Parallax is a new way to play it on Apple devices. It has a tutorial and training missions for new players, and it can also join live games on the public Netrek servers.

Which devices does it run on?

Apple TV, Mac and iPad. It isn't made for iPhone. On Apple TV you need a game controller. On Mac and iPad you can use a game controller, and the Mac also works with the keyboard and mouse.

Is it free in the beta?

Yes. Beta testers don't pay anything. We haven't announced the price for the final release.

How do I join the beta?

Open the TestFlight link on the Parallax page on your iPad or Mac and choose Accept. You need Apple's free TestFlight app. For Apple TV, accept the link on an iPhone or iPad signed in to the same Apple Account, then install Parallax from TestFlight on the Apple TV.

How do I leave the beta?

Open TestFlight, choose Parallax, and choose Stop Testing. You can also just delete the app.

Do you get my email address?

Not unless you send it. When you join through the public TestFlight link, Apple doesn't share your name or email address with us. Your email address reaches us only if you add it to your feedback or send feedback by email from TestFlight. Read the privacy policy for the details.
